Electrical Wiring

The JACK SWITCH (RH-269X) is located at the coin chute and is used to start the game tn motion. The MERCURY SWITCH, known as the secondary connection, is located near the bottom of the machine at the side of the pay-out slides. This switch hooks up after the game is in motion. The rear contact on the JACK SWITCH is broken when Coin Slide (RH-109) is moved forward. When a coin s placed in the slot, the second contact on the JACK SWITCH is connected and held there until coin slide moves to the rear and closes the rear contact. The circuit is then closed by both contacts being connected, and the current starts the motor. Carriage (RH-115) is pulled forward by the long chain, releasing lever (RH-297). allowing MERCURY SWITCH to be tipped and make connection. When the carriage (RH-115) travels to the far end of the track it contacts with lever (RH-207X). which pulls the coins down In the coin chute and breaks the contact of the JACK SWITCH. The contacts in the MERCURY SWITCH are already closed, and this continues to operate the machine until the carriage returns and re-sets the MERCURY SWITCH to normal position. The MERCURY SWITCH is a glass tube with a sufficient supply of mercury inserted, and the gases removed, which prevents arcing when making and breaking contacts. You will note that there are two metallic contacts in the MERCURY SWITCH and the tube is to be set so that these contacts are in vertical position; otherwise, the mercury will not make a good connection. As before stated, this type of switch is used to prevent arcing and will stand up indefinitely. Care should be exercised not to hit the tube with tools, etc., and break the glass. Be careful not to pinch wires on the mercury switch when replacing side-panel on cabinet
